Valentine Regret
February 26, 2002
I got the Valentine you sent
I wanted you to know.
Was just the day,
That prompted you,
To let such feelings show?
I was truly honored.
Remembered that way.
A card to show you thought of me,
On Cupid's special day.
Love me true,
Or love me not,
I may never know.
What these feelings
Would become,
If we let them grow.
I did not open your Valentine.
This I now confess.
The content of your message,
I can only guess.
This special day for lovers,
Pledging heart's as lovers do.
Skeptical and anxious,
I withhold my heart from you.
Your motives so unclear to me.
What be your intent?
What would you think
your reward to be?
Hence this poem sent.
Answer me or answer not,
I ask that you decide.
Send to me your honesty,
I have no interest in your pride.
To give my heart completely.
If that was your request?
I will need convincing.
This will be your test.
