Restless

Iíve been centimeters away from a stroke
of a pen/a note/ a broad brush of hope
a syllable away from connecting words
like two distant worlds,
echoes empty of any depth ,
faces I can only see from the peripheral of my soul.
But here I am.
And here you are not.
I am where we once were-
suspended in mid glare
Fingers pressed down
watching a keystroke erase the color off these words
so that they sit lifeless-
Here- where you are not
distance closer to the stroke
of remorse/a vain sense of hope
a noun away from carving your name
into the thick skin of my soul.
